PHILANTHROPY

Alongside our community service, Mississippi Theta also hosts philanthropic events. Our philanthropy recipient is The Mission of West Point. The Mission is a The Mission is a 501(c)3 ministry organization dedicated to providing evidence-based intervention, prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. Recognizing addiction as a complex clinical, social, and public health issue, The Mission seeks to develop healthier individuals and stronger communities by providing the necessary information, tools, and support to create sustainable change. The Mission strives to create healthy lives by providing individuals with an opportunity to change while walking alongside them throughout their journey.

In the fall of 2019 Mississippi Theta hosted our second annual Bats and BBQ Home Run Derby philanthropy event at the university softball stadium. We are proud to announce that the event was a blast and the chapter raised nearly $7,000 for underprivileged Starkville youths to attend a youth camp. We look forward to continuing Bats and BBQ which has become our flagship philanthropy event for years to come.

Alongside our fundraising events, Mississippi Theta also regularly hosts Mississippi Blood Services for blood drives. In the fall of 2019 the chapter hosted the annual Transylvania Bowl Blood Drive. Thanks to our chapter, Mississippi Blood Services was able to park their blood bus in front of the chapter house and in front of the student union for four days in October. The donations that Mississippi Blood Services collects are crucial to saving the lives of Mississippians every day.
